which CPU is better?

hey guys i have two desktop pc's laying around and want to make one of them into a gaming PC using parts from both. i want to know which cpu is better
here are the two CPU's:
AMD A4 5300
intel core i3 540
im new on the scene of building/making pc's so im a bit of a noob at the moment.

The 540 can also overclock like crazy. I assume you are going to use a dedicated graphics card otherwise the A4 is better.

i3 540 is still a nice little CPU. Much better than the A4.
