I am in the process of gathering components for my first ever desktop build. I will be using it primarily for gaming and very little other use. Through my own research I have come up with these parts so far:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($189.99 @ Microcenter)
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4-M Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($129.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($55.98 @ Outlet PC)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 XT 2GB Video Card ($234.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Thermaltake Armor A30 ATX Mini Tower Case ($93.99 @ NCIX US)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) ($89.98 @ Outlet PC)
Total: $794.92
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Other than that I have no idea where to go from here. The gpu is the only purchased product. Since this is my first build I don't have very much experience with other parts. As far as money $1000 was my original budget so I am open to downgrades or any other sugestions. I figure 8gb of ram and 600w power supply should be enough. I will mostly be playing skyrim, guildwars 2, bioshock infinite and elders scrolls online when it comes out.

I am not really in a hurry to buy everything and put it together, I figure that I should have everything over the next 2 months and build it then.

Thanks for the help

I just noticed a deal at microcenter by me that I can get the i5 3570k for $189.99 and the asrock z77 extreme 4 standars atx for $94.99 as a bundle, which definitely seems worth it. This is going to make me change the case I get to an atx midtower which isn't a big deal. Another other suggestions now that I am switching to a bigger case?

Updated with new case, power supply, memory, optical drive and cpu cooler
