I was wondering if the 7850 would be ok in my stock Dell XPS 8300. I have researched it and found a lot of contradictions so I wanted to come here and post my actual PSU specs and see what the experts (you guys =) say.

The PSU specs:

Total 142 W:
+3.3V = 17A
+5.0V = 25A

Total 385W:
+12VA = 18A
+12 VB = 16 A
+12 VC = 8A
-12 == .3A

+5.0 Vaux = 2A

If it is not ok, could anyone recommend a new PSU and some directions on how to install it? The Radeon 5770 isn't cutting it anymore.

Thanks guys!

What else do you have plugged into the psu? cd/dvd drives? number of hard disks etc...??
I woulnd't try it if you have alot of hardware plugged in. 500W is recommended as you probably already know.

I have the normal (one HD, one cd drive) and one additional external HD but i believe that gets its power from an AC adapter. 8 Gig of ram i7 2600 at 3.4 ghz

Your current power supply is not recommended. You have enough wattage but the amperage on your 12 volt rail is not sufficient. This is a metric that is hardly mentioned but is extremely important. You can give it a shot but don't be surprised if you get games crashing or your power supply burns out prematurely. I recommend you upgrade to a more robust solution before you upgrade the card.

Sure, I tend to favor Corsair PSU's since I've had a good experience with them. This modular 500w PSU should power your system and the intended graphics card with no issues. It will be more than enough power for pretty much any single card out there except for maybe a Titan.
