Do Optical Drives need SATA II or SATA III.

(Assuming you are talking a SATA drive and not an older IDE drive), It doesn't matter. Optical drives are to slow to get any benefit from the faster SATA III interface. Either one will work, though. SATA is a backward compatible standard.
