I bought an ibuypower desktop almost 2 years ago. Now I want to put in a new Motherboard and CPU.

I know that changing the CPU does not require you to install a new OEM, but changing the Motherboard does. I still have the ibuypower Win 7 OEM disc.

My questions are:

1) Can I buy a new OEM license and install Win 7 with the ibuypower disc? Or do I have to buy a new disc?

2) Do I have to delete everything on my Hard Drive before replacing my Motherboard and installing Win 7, or can I install Win 7 after replacing my Motherboard still using the Hard Drive with the previous copy of Win 7?

Help is greatly appreciated. I hope to buy a new Motherboard and CPU as soon as I get an answer.

Thanks!

You May be OK with re-using your disk. If Windows does not activate, call MS and say that your needed to replace the motherboard due to a failure (even if not true ;-) ) and they should let you activate. If not, if you get an OEM license, it will come with a disk so question one is moot hehe. As a consumer, you can't really get JUST a license key.
