SATA IDE Mode causing Freezing

Changed SATA mode to IDE from ACHI in BIOS on a Windows Vista Gateway Desktop because I want to install windows XP from disc and now my computer freezes at the Gateway Logo screen (the bottom has the F10 boot menu and F2 BIOS options) but I cannot access BIOS or anything because I cannot get past this Gateway Logo screen. Thank you for answering

So hitting F10 on that screen does nothing? Try resetting the BIOS, unplug the computer from wall power, remove the CMOS battery for about 10 seconds, start it up again.
