Random Hard Drive Freezes

whenever i try to install windows it will start up ill get to the point where it starts the installation and then it stops and the hard drive activity light stops working and then i have to manually restart the computer I already replaced the hard drive ive already replaced the motherboard im wondering if it could be the psu im using a xfx 550 watter power supply i bought brand new off a guy online

check the bios for
1: sata ports being in AHCI mode
2: hdd is on sata_0 port (or the lowest numbered port you show) and the dvd drive is on one of the last/highest numbered drives.
3: that no other hard drives are installed in the pc.

I am assuming you are installing from the original dvd.

yeah im using the retail disk but i havent been able to install it without the hard drive turning off randomly, causing me to manually restart it

no other hard drives are installed and its in AHCI mode i can get through and around the bios perfectly but when i try to install windows it just freezes up no error or anything

tested the ram one by one and same problem and the temps are fine i just put new thermal paste on also
