Ok I just bought an 8350 8 core and started reading that quick guide/ warranty paper. It says no aftermarket heat sinks and stock heat sink only or the 3 year warranty is void.

WTH???? Who wants to use that sad stock heat sink? Besides how will they know if I used their heatsink or someone elses?

What gives with these outrageous warranty conditions when the after market heat sinks are usually way better and perform sometimes twice as well as the stock one? Is it that some after market heat sinks are too heavy and can damage the chip? Why can't they just honor the 3 year warranty and have a list of after market heat sinks from the tons of brands out there that are approved for warranty? What is with the restrictions on how I can cool my Cpu?

Well seeing as I'm using my second computer that is at least 10 years old, I think I may use this one for that length of time as well. I hope not though.

Specs of ancient computer

SOme old ECS motherboard.
AMD 2400+ @ 2ghz Single core socket A (462)
1 gb of Ram 266mhz (2x512mb)
Ati X850 256mb g-card agp interface
2 hdds a 160gb and a 40gb both IDE
DVD rom/cd-rw IDE drive
Running Windows XP sp3

Yes it still works and it has been through one power supply which blew a capacitor.
