ASUS P9X79 Standard dual GPU @ x16?

Hello TH community, I was wondering if someone could kindly confirm whether or not the ASUS P9X79 Standard motherboard can run dual PCIE 3.0 SLI cards at x16/x16 please?

As per ASUS's spec the MB comes with three PCIE 3.0 slots at (x16, x16, x8). But the guy at my local computer hardware store insists that I need to get a P9X79 Pro or Delux in order to have dual SLI @ x16/x16. I'm a bit confused here.

The guy at your local computer hardware store wants your money. The P9X79 will run dual SLI at PCIe 3.0 @ 16x.

Thanks for the quick reply bud That is exactly what I thought haha. From now on I should think twice before buying anything again from that store.

Haha, no problem. Just make sure the bios is up to date!
