Minecraft is a really old game and is probably better suited to an i3 running XP however, that only applies to the classic version.

Minecraft requirements -
http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Hardware_performance

" Minecraft 1.5 or newer, 1.5.1 is preferred. Older versions will need to be updated to current versions. Java - Using the most up-to-date version of Java 7 is preferred. If you are on a 64-bit system, it is highly recommended that you install the 64-bit version of Java (you can install both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions with no problems if other programs need the 32-bit version)."

Use the chart in the link to determine your specs, scroll down to it.

As best as I can figure, you need "Minecraft 1.5 or newer, 1.5.1 is preferred"

1. Update your java to 64bit
2. Update all your drivers
3. Update the OS
4. Allow more RAM to be used
5. Test with other games just to make sure its not just minecraft.

Come back and let me know once you have done this.
