first, i am shifting from console to PC gaming and this is my very first build. i have read a couple of threads about (670 vs 7970 ghz)and i didn't really understand because, well i am a noob in pc world. i was considering a gtx 680 at first but it was quite expensive so i thought 670 is a better option, but then i discovered the 7970 ghz which is about the same price as a 7970ghz (in Sweden). i am NOT a fanboy, i just want the better option. (you could suggest any other video card) i mostly play the following games...Far Cry 3,Need for Speed: Most Wanted,Hitman: Absolution, FIFA 13,Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2,Assassin’s creed revelations,Assassin’s creed 3,Battlefield 3,Sleeping Dogs ,Saints row 3,Prototype 2,Crysis warhead,Crysis 2 ,crysis 3,NBA 2k13, Bioshock infinite.

Note--im NOT experienced with pc gaming so please try to explain in a way that
i could understand. and i also wanted this build to way better than the next
gen consoles

the rest of parts i bought are-

MSI Z77A-GD65 MB
i5-3570k
8GB corsair vengeance ram
corsair cx 750m psu
120 Samsung ssd
1000 GB hdd
h80i h20 cooling
gpu????

if you see something wrong with the build don't hesitate to speak :)

can you please explain a little bit more, i don't want to make the wrong decision and then regret. are there aspects where the 670 or 680 dominates over the 7970 ghz ?

The 670 has very similar performance to a stock hd 7970. An hd 7970 ghz however competes more with a gtx 680.
'aspects where the 670 or 680 dominates over the 7970 ghz ' If you use applications that use cuda nvidia cards will do better. Also nvidia has physx, adaptive vsync, txaa.etc. If the gtx 670 is cheaper by a significant margin (40-50) than get a gtx 670. If not get the 7970 ghz.

If the difference is so small then definitely go with the hd 7970 ghz.
Enjoy your new graphics card:)

what is better? a gigabyte 7970 ghz or sapphire 7970 ghz? or it doesnt really matter?

Is Physx important to you? Playing in 3D? Getting dual cards now or in future? Afraid of high electricity bills? << if yes to any, get a GTX 680

Having your game displayed across triple monitors? Using a really high resolution monitor or TV? Like high levels of Anti-Aliasing in your games? Want to save money and get free bundled games? <<< if yes to any, get a 7970 Ghz

THANKS ALOT GUYS ! i went the 7970ghz and its working great for me.
one last question - my cpu temps are around 27 -35 while just browsing and running light applications , and when on load with prime95 they go up to 50-60. are these good temps.

my gpu runs at 35-37 on idle and 74 on max , are these also ok.....

Your cpu temps are ok since that is prime95
The hd 7970 tends to run hot( the reference model temps go up to 84) but your gpus temps are also ok.
