After watching a few videos about hackintoshes, it got me pumped up to build myself one. I plan to just spend about $600 max. I don't want the it to be crazy powerful. Where can i find information of installing the OS? I plan it to just boot into mac.

Is there anything specific about the hardware or i can just choose whatever hardware i want?

this is what i had in mind:
feel free to suggest what i should get.

CPU: intel i5-3350 $179.99
motherboard:Gigabyte GA-H61m-HD2 $54.99
Memory: corsair 4gb ddr3 1333 $37.99
storage: Toshiba 500gb $54.99
GPU: Gigabyte gtx 650 $113.98 includes shipping
psu: corsair tx series 650w $79.99
case: nzxt gamma series $29.99
dvd drive: lg 24x dvd burner $17.99
usb: transcend 8gb $8.49

A couple things are a bit off with this:

Parts tends to be VERY finicky when it comes to Hackintosh, you have to do detailed research about each and every one of the parts you plan on using. Doubtless something could go horribly wrong and end up causing the entire machine to become useless because Mac OS X does not want to work with x or y.

Here is what I would suggest for the budget... but be warned: it may not all work together in a hackintosh config in both cases.

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor ($119.99 @ Microcenter)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($46.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($29.83 @ NCIX US)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($55.99 @ Compuvest)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 XT 2GB Video Card ($234.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Cougar Spike MicroATX Mini Tower Case ($39.98 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair CX 500W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply ($49.99 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer ($17.98 @ Outlet PC)
Total: $595.74
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Hi there,

Consider spending a tad more on the motherboard and going for a H77/B75 chipset one. They are newer and support more modern features such as USB 3.0 and SATA 3. It should only be maybe $15 or so more. You need to check that it will work for Mac though. These are both good resources: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ and http://lifehacker.com/5837615/how-do-i-choose-the-right-hardware-when-building-a-hackintosh

I'm not sure but I think it's best to stick with nVidia for graphics because of driver support. What are your main uses for this build going to be?

Here's a guide on installing Mac onto it: http://lifehacker.com/5841604/the-always-up+to+date-guide-to-building-a-hackintosh

@Bob Though it's a good build, a few of those parts won't work for a Hackintosh, such as the graphics card. The motherboard might, since Gigabyte tends to have quite good support, but I think it's generally always best to stick with Intel for a Hackintosh.

This is just an for whatever purposes. I've heard That it's MUCH easier on the intel side then AMD since mac themselves dont use AMD processors. I've done some research and doesn't seem as hard so i'm practicing over a virtual machine.

On the Hardware side, i'll see what i can squeeze in.
