Thinking of upgrading my GPU

Hey everybody, I was thinking if its worth changing my GPU and if I need to upgrade anything else with it.

I currently use my PC to both play and develop Games as well as for 3D modelling and Animation. I love playing my games maxed out and the software i use for game development (UDK, CryEngine, etc) as well as 3D modelling and animation software does do A LOT of rendering based on my poly count.

I was thinking of upgrading to a GTX 680. Right now I have the MSI AMD Radeon 6950 Twin Fozr III

My current specs are

Intel i5 @ 3.3ghz
AMD Radeon 6950
Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4-B3 mobo
8GB RAM
Corsair TX 750w psu

Is it worth upgrading to a 680 and if I do do I need to buy anything extra like a new PSU to cope with the new card?

Thanks for the speedy reply :)

Would a 750W power supply be enough to handle a 680 along with what I currently have?

It's MUCH better if you get GTX 670 instead of 680 reasons are :

1- GTX 670 is already powerful GPU , and when OC'd it surpasses the GTX 680 levels and be at the same level of performance if 680 was OC'd (sometimes it can be 5-10% less, but that is minimal difference to even notice )
2 In the future if you SLI'd 670 with another one you will get a BEAST for gaming.
3- GTX 670 is cheaper than 680 (obvious!!) and more worthy.
4- Less power consumption .

AND ... you don't need any extra wattage, you have plenty enough.

BEST LUCK

Thanks for that! I'll tale a look into it :)

I wouldn't mind a GTX 670 either, its a really good card stand alone. Im not sure about the SLI though cause my case is mid size and I'm worried that going SLI might cause a lot of heating problems. But i'll do some research! :)

If you want to SLI/CFX in that case it will be possible as long as your MB has the compatibility , as for Overheating you could install some case fans and you're set :)

BEST LUCK
