Minecraft Server Help

I want to invest in a computer just for a minecraft server. I was wonder if these specs could do it... intel core i3 3225 16 gb ram asrock micro atx motherboard and a 128gb ssd. The only thing that will be on the ssd is the OS and the server application. Does minecraft have a server app for linux... if so will i be able to access it from a windows pc...

OK please go to www.speedtest.net and tell me your internet speed.How many people are you thinking of playing on the server? And yes Minecraft has a server application that runs on Linux and if you run a server off a Linux computer you can connect from a Windows computer or mac you just need minecraft.

You wont need a SSD, but the rest will be a decent server. As stated above, your biggest bottleneck will definitely be a network one. Minecraft is a Java app, so will work on pretty much any OS.
