your CPU is capable enough, the gpu will struggle at higher settings for most modern games at 1050p

Don't run 3 sticks of RAM, I can't speak for triple channel memory but if your running dual channel 3 sticks will set it to single channel. Take one out (you can still get by gaming with 4GBs) or add another one. Your kind of wasting that nice triple channel memory as it is now. After than, you gotta get a new GPU.

the i7-9XX mobos are set up for triple channel although for most reviews the difference at stock speeds with dual channel is not noticeable

In practice there is no noticeable difference between dual and triple-channel memory operation modes . In the majority of tests the advantage or loss is reduced to a error of measurement, AND the advantage was seen only in some rare case

Ok now I want to know, does that mean he's still running dual channel with the three sticks? I was thinking it'd go all the way to single channel.

660 is a fine card, price for performance is average. Here's a nice chart though, it ranks all the cards into catagories based on their performance.
