Hi tom's Hardware,

I have recently built a gaming PC, around $1000. The thing I'm most curious about is that I need to make a trip half way across the world every summer break, international college student. I want to bring my pc back home with me and back to college every summer. How should I do this, I was thinking of dissembling the parts, leave the case behind, put my components into my luggage and assemble it back together once I'm home. Is that a good plan or is there anything might go wrong with that?

Well a lot of things can go wrong. Even if you disassemble your components you're still going on a plane, so with your hardware in your luggage you never know if there will be any mis-handling. Also the x-ray machines could affect your components.

You can try remotely accessing your PC from another country, using team viewer or any VNC software, or get yourself a portable laptop / tablet for the summer break.

It's doable but risky, so the choice is yours.
