I am looking to get into computer gaming and I don't want to limit my self. I would like some recommendations on parts as I am somewhat lost. In addtion an explaination of the difference between RAM and Video RAM, aswell as the amounts I would need, would be nice.

A budget limit will help in recommendations...

RAM = system memory... for new systems 8 GB DDR3 at 1866 MHz (CAS 9) will be pretty good, but you can go as high as you want

VRAM = graphic card memory... 2 GB - 3 GB GDDR5 128 - 256 bit will be cool... but not helpful after devs start making games for the PS4 and its 8GB GDDR5
