My problem is as follows. I run a small game server (20 instances of valve's counter strike) on a DQ77MK with an i7 3770. So far so good, the servers run beautiful and the remote management through vnc viewer plus works great. My issue is that sometimes .. every couple of day or after a week of uptime, the server hangs and isn't responsive to remote desktop connection and the website it's hosting doesn't load. If I log on remotely through VNC or the http://ip:16992 for Intel AMT I see the server as being offline (but it's actually ON) and it doesn't respond to my Power Commands at all (Reset, Turn Off or Power to BIOS or to OS). I have to manually give it a reset.

Any idea as to why it does that? Not why it hangs but why i can't control it even though it hangs (and i was under the impression intel's AMT allows just for that)

Thank you!

AMT is generally pretty solid, you may need to update your BIOS/Firmware.

It's a fresh system, with bios 0058 and the latest drivers.

Check the Event Viewer for any issues. Can you pin it down to a certain day of the week, certain time, or something occurring on a regular basis?

I sounds like an update could be getting applied, the server might have a power management feature set or something else kicking off on an interval.

The issue/issues are caused either by a memory hungry bug in the game servers or a crash in one of them. But that's not my concern since i can do little to nothing to prevent those. My concern is that, intel's amt should be impervious to operating system hangs and crashes from what i understood. If i can control and install an operating system and also have complete bios/uefi control .. why doesn't AMT work when the computer hangs because of a software issue?
