HELP!

PSU's 12Volt rail dips too much! Will this affect my GPU Overclocking?

Hi! I'm overclocking my GPU (Powercolor HD7850 2GB) and currently i'm stuck at 1100Mhz core/ 5400MHz on memory @ 1.185 volts, Power Limit set on MAX.

It is somewhat stable at MSI Kombustor/Furmark, but I want to push it a little further. I can push it to 1150MHz core @ 1.215v and seems to pass Furmark/Kombustor/3Dmark11/Heaven but FAILS on games like DeadSpace 3 & Tomb Raider 2013. I get Bluescreens here.

What's the problem here? Does these games detect instability better than these GPU stressing softwares?

I've asked this question already and someone said that I've already hit the GPU's oc'ng wall. Max temp I get is 64 Degree Celcius.

I want to verify if I getting enough power so I connected a digital multimeter to my PSU's 12 volt rail (it is a FSP 500W PSU --- about 4 years old now I guess) and these are the readings:

Idle: 12v rail = 12.11 volts

Full Load (CPU stressed by OCCT + GPU oc'ed stressed by Kombustor/Furmark) = 11.79v - 11.80v.

Does these results shows that my PSU is not giving enough power at full load which in result affects my Overclocks?

Do I have a failing PSU?

Does my PSU affects my GPU's overclocking potential?

Will it overclock more if I get a new PSU?

If I replace the capacitors of my PSU, will it help?

Please help me guys. Any ideas will be much appreaciated!

Thanks!

First, voltage area (safe limit ) is around 3% for the 12v rail, that's mean if your rails working between 11.6v-12.4 volt, So, you can assume that your psu will give enough juice to your hardware(s).
Voltage drop is very common in psu, especially if you have an old psu and medium power rating..
If your psu cannot give the proper power to your machine, it will shut down due to psu protection..

So, let's see your question
1.Does these results shows that my PSU is not giving enough power at full load which in result affects my Overclocks?
-Your psu is working well
2.Do I have a failing PSU?
-Your psu is working well
3.Does my PSU affects my GPU's overclocking potential?
-Nope, it's still in the safe voltage area..
4.Will it overclock more if I get a new PSU?
-Nope, you've already hit the wall
5.If I replace the capacitors of my PSU, will it help?
-Nope, you've already hit the wall, and your psu is working well
