Does the DDR on the on-board video card have to match the DDR on your motherboard.

ok so my friend is trying to upgrade his old 4350 radeon 512 mb on-board of DDR2 card to a radeon 6350 1gb of DDR3 card. I wasnt really sure myself, frist time I ran into this problem and I've put together 2 computers. The RAM on his motherboard is 2X2 sticks (4gbs) of DDR2. So my question is could that card be put in without problems with the difference of DDR2 card to DDR3 card? I also told him he should probably get a bigger power supply (using a 350watt, recommened a 500watt) Thank you for your time.

They are separate and distinct from each other. There will be no problem.

If the VRAM and system RAM have to match each other then a lot of gamers will be having lots of problems because most mainstream and higher performing cards have DDR5 VRAM. Motherboards only use up to DDR3 RAM. DDR4 is not expected to be released until 2015. Forget about DDR5 for motherboards...
