what surface must you put together your system so you are grounded

so basically i am building a system soon but i want to know what surface i need to put it together on so i am grounded and don't get electrocuted or anything like that.

Stand on a hard floor with shoes on and work on a table. Periodically touch the metal of the case to ground yourself.
