my computer has sound built in but when i installed windows xp the sound does not work now how do i fix it?

You may have to reinstall the driver.

Please post the information of the sound card, if possible, if you cant find it, go to start, right click on computer, click properties, then, go to advanced, or hardware, then click device manager, look for a question mark, or look under system sound devices, or something related to that, then, right click on the sound card, then click properties, click the next tab, i forget what its called, there should be one that comes with a click down arrow, in the drop down, click hardware id's and post them, the first one will work....
