Radeon 8000/9000 Series

When do you think the Radeon 8000 and 9000 series will be released? My Radeon 7770 is fine for now, but it will get weaker with time. When I got it I was hoping the 9000 series would come out Q1 2014 but that doesn't look to be the case. Will the 8000 series be like the 6000 series, a refresh? Or will it be something completely new like the 5000 and 7000 series? They skipped a year so I really do hope it's the latter.

i can't say for sure but there might be no 8k series for non OEM parts since all 8k series found in OEM machines are direct rebrand of current 7k series. amd might skip the 8k series naming for non OEM parts to avoid confusion. anyway amd already break from their usual strategy of new architecture/new series every year. so it is harder to speculate what amd are going to now. even current 7k series already have their supposed next gen architecture (7790). if your concern purely gaming there is no need to worry what is what going come out later. if you need more performance just buy whatever card that able to suit your need at that time

So they probably will have a next gen architecture out by mid 2014? Or will I have to go with Maxwell?

I'm just trying to plan on when to buy a new video card, though other circumstances can affect me too I guess.
