I'd say the specs are pretty impressive. The author is forgetting the form factor of this device! All that tech packed into an area much smaller than that of a cellphone/tablet. Consdering it matches upto the 2nd gen kindle fire is commendable. And this is just the 1st iteration of this one of a kind device. The consumer edition launched next year should contain beefier specs.

This will be far more impressive with a 28nm chip, or heck 20nm or maybe a 14nm intel something. I really don't think this will take off much with places blocking you for having one on and a phone that does so much more already in your pocket. I really can't see me wanting one of these unless just for farting around and the cost was under $200. Otherwise I'd rather wait until they can do far more and have a much better chip in them. I don't think I'll pay attention to these until 20nm or smaller. By then the cost might make it useful to me and maybe it can replace a phone for most stuff then too.

I plan on getting some oversized sunglasses, sort of like the wrap arounds old people use over their eyeglasses. That'll keep anyone from seeing my eyes when I do the weird zone out thing people are talking about. It'll also keep them from knowing I'm using Google glass at all. They'll just think I'm some weirdo with dark specs.

How exactly can Google tell me I can't sell my Google Glass if I had it? or even loan them out which is laughable. No NDA was signed so Google can go screw themselves. Notice EBbay didn't take down the auction because Google has no legal standing to tell them to. It's a device that runs Android nothing more. You paid $1,500 to purchase a device, not rent it. They threaten to deactivate it? I'd sue Google. Google is worse than Apple.

Not so. You need to read the whole agreement. You can't make money off of it, basically, this is a prototype device that you as a developer paid to get access to and be able to explore it's capabilities, tweak your apps for it and so on. Of course you could let a friend try it, the device doesn't know who's wearing it. That is, assuming you are willing to let your friend try your 1500 bucks device.
People that bought this are developers that are interested to be first on the market with Glass-oriented apps, and this gave them this opportunity. Or at least that's the majority of people that bought them. Of course, there will be turds among the buyers that just got them to try and make a quick buck, and the killswitch included is Google's way to try to enforce the rules. Nobody forced anyone to buy them in the first place, and hopefully potential second-hand buyers will be deterred by the existence of such a switch.

I'll still be laughing tomorrow...I just got about a dozen visuals off this. IE, what happens when someone looks down and realizes your hard over a conversation that really shouldn't get you going...ROFL.

If you thought phones and people walking into traffic were bad...Now you'll see stories like "man walks into traffic, forensics shows he was hard and watching porn when he got ran over"...Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse...LOL. I'm thinking these will cause a lot of accidents now

I still can't see a use for this over a phone for at least a while though. It has to have more features to replace a phone etc.

I didn't think the point was to replace the phone; I thought it was more of an accessory to the phone. Lots of people use bluetooth ear pieces with their phones-- essentially taking the speaker and mic and putting them in a more convenient place.
Like that, i think Google Glass intends to put the display and camera as well in a more convenient place.

Ok, but if it's as expensive as a phone who bites? I'm sure they'll get the price down from $1500 but you'd have to sell this for $200 to get me to even think about it. I'm sure some people would say higher is ok, but it's an accessory to a $600 phone in your point. My bt headset was $29 (admittedly very good price for Voyager520's). I wouldn't spend more than $50 for one. I really wouldn't pay $200 for a phone accessory but I do get your use for it now. I could maybe part with $100-150 for a large screen and not mucking around with the phone as much. But that's still spendy for such a thing to me (I'm sure people with more cash to burn would say I'm wrong here). I'd rather up my next vid card purchase $100-200 I'll get more use out of that for sure. But then I don't even own a smartphone They are not useful to me past "honey I am at the store do you need bread? - click"...LOL. I use less than 150mins per year...ROFL and I think that's a VERY high estimate.

I admit Ting.com may get me to buy one when it has a phone with a T4i in it I want tegra optimized games (and maybe possibility of it getting my PC to tv like shield). I could live with their plans for some of the smartphone functionality, I just won't spend $100/mo on a contract for something I don't use (which tells you the odds of my buying a GLASS device for a phone).
