using blu-ray drive from computer to monitor

I have a computer with a Blu-ray drive and a graphics card with dvi and hdmi ports. I'm wanting to purchase a new monitor with a resolution of at least 1900 x 1080. Some of the monitors I have interest in do not have an hdmi port. Will the Blu-ray drive work without an hdmi port on the monitor?

It would work with dvi as well, as long as it supports hdcp. That's the copy protection mechanism used for blu-rays. Some of the cheap monitors don't support that, but the specs will tell you.
