Ive finally chosen a good card based on its good prices and benchmarks (usually 60fps maxed out in most games especially skyrim!) and now i want to find a CPU that is the same performance as the 7850 as i want to save money.

I want a CPU that allows the best performance from the card but no more and no less. I hope that makes sense. I'm on a budget don't want to overdo it and since it will be a while before i get a new one i want to make a smart purchase.

I was thinking about an AMD FX - 6300 as it has good price but then again i have no idea, will this CPU suffice or do i need to go higher...

I would grab the intel i5 3570k to put in with that gpu. Although if you really want to go cheap and save like $100 - $200 go for the amd phenom II x4 965 or the 955. They are great for overclocking, and can still handle modern games, and that gpu. But ultimately the i5 3570k

i would but i am really tight for money at the moment - if i had the money i would go for the i5 but as im on a budget im resticted to about the price of a 6300. Thanks for replying but would a 6300 be able to live up to the 7850?

Yes it would. My friend was going to get the a10 5800k with the 7850. But I persuaded him to get the fx 6300, as its a lot better.

Also, why are you getting the asus model? Personally I would go for te Msi or sapphire versions, as they run at cooler temperatures and are normally a good price.

What is your budget? FX 6300 will do more than enough. What games will you be running? steamroller will come for AM3+ socket motherboard meaning you can choose a weaker cpu and upgrade later.

Since 7850 is chosen combined with FX6300 I presume the budget lies somewhere between 600-700. i5-setup, FX-setup, AMD 600$.

Thank you Valentin_N for those set ups

I would be running games like skyrim and mostly Bethesda games and i know they need a pretty good cpu to run well. Would the fx-6300 be enough for skyrim at 60fps as that would be the game im basing this build on. I want to run ENBs and texture mods also if that helps again at 60 fps.

I wouldn't be running games like crysis and battlefield 3 if that helps you further

And yes a good guess my budget would be around 600-700

Based on this bechmark both systems will run the games at 60fps without a problem however Nvidia, general speaking, will give better rendering frametime and therefore giving better visual experience. The Tahiti LE will perform like an 7950 once it's a bit overclock (you will be able to reach 1GHz without to much problem at stock voltage).

FX 6300 might only become a bottleneck in case few cores are used such as two or less but as non of primary games won't use less then four cores I believe the FX will do just fine. If you do feel that the FX is a bottleneck steamroller cpu will come Q2-3 and partly solve the poor performance in singlethreaded applications such as iTunes.

Even BF3 (to be more specific multiplayer) will run good at High settings; based on this Benchmark 660 has 48 fps meaning the fps will be higher with High settings and lower resolution.
