Hi I have two 12" special edition audiobahns, that peak at 800watts but I'm wanting to get a new amp but I don't no which one would be better for my subs. The amps that I am debating on are very similar, the AMA12002h or the AMA24002h they are literally the same amp but the 1200 is a 1200w max with a 600w bridge, and the 2400 is just doubled that, but what I have seen and heard is if you have too many watts it could hurt your subs and the same for too less. So what I am asking is what amp is in your opinion the better of the two for my subs?

As long as your amp has a variable gain (essentially voltage control) on it then you should be fine. Look up what the peak frequency is for the subs, then turn the amp gain down all the way, turn the volume to want you would like to play it at, then turn the gain knob up until it distorts, then back off a bit. Bam you're good to go!

You can find test tone tracks online at many locations, just find one with the peak frequency you need and put it on repeat.

I have 2 Dayton 10" 350W Peak at 4Ohms inside of two Autotuba TAT styles, so they then peak at about 450 when in the box. I have them hooked to a Autotek 1000W amp, each channel is pushing more than the subs can handle, but since I have the gain turned down they are good to go.
