Hi

I'm building a gaming pc for the first time in a long time. I have build systems recently but mostly HTPC's and such, so I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to gaming pc's. I have a low budget of around 500$ and the system will ONLY be used for gaming.

So far I put together the following system:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($84.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: MSI 760GM-P34(FX) Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($54.97 @ Outlet PC)
Memory: Kingston HyperX Grey 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($67.01 @ NCIX US)
Storage: Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500GB 2.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive ($55.68 @ SuperBiiz)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost 2GB Video Card ($174.98 @ Newegg)
Case: Antec VSK-4000 ATX Mid Tower Case ($34.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair Builder 500W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V Power Supply ($49.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $522.61
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

My question is whether this is a good budget gaming build? Should i send less on GPU and more on GPU? Is the memory appropriate?

Best regards,
Kanvevo

The build looks fine, though If you want to save around $50 go for the AMD 7770. I would also recommend a higher wattage PSU so if you do decide to get the 7770 and save around $50, change the PSU to a 650w or 750w to keep on the safe side.

Hi Kanvevo!

Congratulations on assembling your build!

Your build will have performance similar to the Very Good Tier. That means great performance/price ratio.

The only thing I can suggest is your choice of HDD. I would suggest going for a faster one, as 5400 rpm is quite slow compared to 7200 rpm. You don't want your fast gaming experience to be spoiled by slow loading times. I would also suggest going for bigger storage capacity, as games nowadays can really eat through HDD space. 1TB or higher is the logical choice.

Asides from that, everything looks sweet. Good luck!
