Closing Threads, Old vs. New System

Is it just me? Or, does it seem that threads are staying open longer under the new system than the old one?

Under the old system, once a BA was selected it seems that closure happened pretty quickly. Now, it seems threads can stay open indefinitely.

This seems to lead to more threads getting hijacked as other members tack on to these threads their similar (sometimes) problems.

Was this intended?

Threads are actually being closed automatically now at a greater pace than before. Previously, moderators would close the thread, and this is still the case. We're also closing threads that are very old automatically now. To answer your question, nope - this hasn't changed that much.

I just must be tracking a lot of old threads that are just meandering along then. Thanks.

We have discussed recently when it is appropriate to close a post, so it is possible you are seeing some difference in what posts get closed. Even posts with Best Answers might be left open at times.
