Limited internet access windows 8

Hi,

I have this problem on my computer for a while now. Normally I would just use the wifi, which seems to be working fine, but now my computer is too far away for the wifi (without lagging).

Anyway: the ethernet often does not work. Sometimes I see the ethernet icon bottom right, but then it says ''limited access''.

Following things I have tried, but did not fix the problem:
- I changed my antivirus from Avast to windows defender.
- Unplugged/plugged in different network cables.
- Resetted my router/modem multiple times
- Disabling and then enabling the connections in control panel
- Windows 8 troubleshooting

My system:

Have you tried setting a fixed IP address for the ethernet connection?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.
I have just tried that by usin the following link:
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/19249/how-to-assign-a-st...

It has not helped me.

I have tried most stuff I have read online, but still nothing has helped. I thought maybe my ipconfig could explain it, but I don't know what most of the numbers mean. Most stuff online is about limited access with wireless, however my wireless is working find (other than lagging alot because Im so far awau from the router).

When I plug the ehternet cable in my room to my macbook, the internet also does not work. However, when I plug in the internet cable directly from the router in my macbook, the internet does work.

Thanks again.

You've lost me - connect the Macbook and it doesn't work but connect it to the router and it does. How does the PC behqave when connected straight to the router and what else is in-between? Your ipconfig log shows nothing odd and that's why I suggested a fixed address.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I will try connecting my PC directly to the router.

What I meant was:
- I connect my macbook directly to the router, ethernet/wired internet then works fine.
- I connect my macbook to the port in my room (that port probably has a cable going downstairs, then connects to another port which then connects to the router), ethernet/wired internet then DOES NOT works.

The person who lived before me in this room said he had no problems with the wired/ethernet internet and said his computer worked fine in the room when connected to ethernet.
