Title says It all. Money is REAL limited, but all are on sale ATM. I plan to OC the GPU, and I have a A10-5800k OCed at 4.3ghz(Can go higher). I play games like BF3, Crysis 3, Metro 2033. I also only have a 1024 x 1280 1080p screen, I really want to Max out all games. I also have 8 gb ram and a Corsair CX500 500w PSU.

The Cards -

MSI GTX 660 Twin Frozer III OC 2GB DDR5 - 184$

But what about the price per performance on that 7850 that's barely what i can afford, is it really worth the 30$ more or whatever it is. Because it will take a good month or two to come up with enought for a 7870.

well 1280 x 1024 so yeah I am 1080p but not that high, and I don't have enough for the one you sent me. I barely have enough for the 7850.

The GTX 660's are all under $200 right now, that can't be beat.

That's what I thought but get this, I was gonna order my GTX 660 for 164$ as soon as I got home, well right as I was about to. They ran out of stock :/. Well the only other cheap GTX 660's was 184$ but they had 1 7870 for 189$ so I got that knowing it was a bit better :)

So you paid $5 more for a card that performs 3% lower, according to the 18 benchmarks on TechPowerUp. And on top of that, you guaranteed that you will never be able to play a PhysX game with the effects turned on, or use Adaptive VSync, FXAA, TXAA, etc.

Every other benchmark shows the 7870 getting better scores, and sometimes fps are higher, depending on the game. I know BF3 favors nividia and thats my FAVORITE game and the 660 one fps by a long shot, but bf4 favors AMD and yeah from some bechmarks the 7870 wins.

I'd say the 7870 GHz is the fastest, but if you wanted to save up an extra $50, get the 7870XT from Amazon since it uses a 7900 base. So basically 7870XT = 7930.

HD7870 ghz edition is the way to go my man! It has great performance/$ and the king of performance/Watt (source: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_Titan/28.html) and it runs waaay cooler than any of the given.

With the benefit of 256-bit, you could always rely on upgrading to a 1080p with no bottlenecks. You can ramp up the VRAM clock speed up to 5.4 gh gddr5 effective with no heat trade-off to!

I have built for some of my client with the HIS IceQ model which has heat sinks on the VRAM so i simply just go to CCC -> Overdrive -> Powertune +20% -> Memory clock slide to the maximum. Note that different vendors use different PCB and VRAM brands so the clock speed may varies but 5.4ghz is the MAX that a HD7870 can get. Also memory clock speed does not impact game performance that much but there is almost no heat trade off as it produce so little of it.

I'm just here to look at the answers but, I don't mean to be a dick or anything, 1024 x 1280 is not 1080 resolution... Just sayin :p

Haha I know, I was corrected by friend, but I ended getting the 7870, and loving it, stays cool 58c max load for hours.

If you can afford a 7870 get a 7870. Otherwise, if you need to stay within your budget, get a 7850. If you need a performance boost, the 7850 is a great over locker and can easily reach 7870 performance without messing with the voltage.
