Hello,
I have an acer 5738G Laptop i found this weird thing where my gpu core/memory clock remain at their maximum level when the power play setting in the CC is off.

As soon as i enable it it goes back to normal (back to what it should be).

See the screens below for more understanding.

OFF

On

i don't know why this happens, and is this good or bad.
someone can explain?

PowerPlay is a feature for AMD chipsets that lower the clockrates to decrease power consumption. If you disable it, the clockrates will stay at their maximum speeds and will consume more power.

thx for your reply chief, but i knew that as it also lowers the voltage of the slot, iam not concerned about power so if disabled will it increase my game performance by any margin.
or do i have to consider any -ve impacts of this?

Powerplay only gets enabled when the card isn't under load. When you do play games it should automatically raise the clocks. So by disabling powerplay you are really only turning off power down state when it is idle and thus increasing the idle temps.

Guys, I have a question. If my core clock stays constantly at the max for hours, is it going to damage the card? Cuz mine goes up to the max when I was playing game.

if max means 100% it will not damage the hard (make sure the temperature is good).
if you have overclocked it there is always change of risking the life of the card.
