Hey guys, I am in need of a new cpu but I want to keep the same motherboard.
My current specs are:
AMD Phenom II 955e (x4) 3,2ghz
Sapphire 7850HD 2GB GDDR5
8GB Ram DDR3
Asus M4A78T-E

You may be thinking WHY? His processor is fine, well it is not and it is performing poorly, I don't know what the problem is (No dust) but I need a new one ). So I was wondering which cpu would be the best fitting in my system which is not too expensive? 100-200$. The cpu has to be from amazon.co.uk. Here's a link from my motherboard which cpu's work in it. http://support.asus.com.tw/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?model=M4A78T-E
I'm not sure which one is the best for my need, I mainly do gaming.

Thanks in advance

So how much would a new motherboard cost? The CPU has to be a bit better than mine right now, preferbably intel maybe an older generation but not too expensive.

To get a noticeable bump, you are going to want to be at an AMD fx8300 series or an intel i5-2000 or 3000 series. Motherboard is going to be in the $75-150 range depending on features and CPU is $160-220.

First Gen i5 or the earlier bulldozer FX chips (model numbers with a 1 as the second digit) are not going to be an upgrade from the 955 you have.
