Hiya, looking to build my first pc after my gcses this summer. I'll have a budget of about £600-650 with £700 as my absolute maximum.

Primary use of the pc would be editing gopro hero3 footage and gaming, as well as web browsing and school docs.

Wanna have my CPU as the i5 3750k, case as the Antec 300, 16 or 8gb of RAM (undecided).

Not sure about the mobo, gpu, storage (is an ssd worth it as well?), psu, and a disc drive.

As you can see, i haven't got very far, also an OS is needed, probably win8, and i already have a copy of microsoft home premium. So any input gratefully received!

P.S. does anyone also know of a good website to buy off, either a UK website or a US site that will ship to the UK.

Thanks, squizzer

if you haven't bought the i5 3570k wait for haswell which will be out by june it'll be around the same price as the i5 3570k so around £180

an antec 300 http://www.scan.co.uk/products/antec-300-three-hundred-black-mid-tower-ultimate-gaming-case-w-o-psu-(new-version)

8gb of ram so you can upgrade later http://www.scan.co.uk/products/antec-300-three-hundred-black-mid-tower-ultimate-gaming-case-w-o-psu-(new-version)

a decent motherboard http://www.scan.co.uk/products/msi-z77a-g43-intel-z77-s-1155-ddr3-sata-iii-6gb-s-sata-raid-pcie-30-(x16)-d-sub-dvi-d-hdmi-atx

1tb harddrive http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1tb-seagate-st1000dm003-barracuda-720014-sata-6gb-s-7200rpm-64mb-cache-8ms-ncq-oem

psu http://www.scan.co.uk/products/700w-corsair-2013-edition-gs-cp-9020064-uk-85-eff-80-plus-bronze-sli-crossfire-eps-12v-quiet-fan-atx

you'll have spent 500 so £ left 200

then get a radeon 7870 or if you can spend a bit more a 7950

a ssd is great but not within your budget

Thanks, is a 700W psu needed? surely a 600W or even 500W would do the trick? Could i swap the 7870 for a 660? is the motherboard worth the price, or should i opt for a Asus Z77 Extreme 4?

Is there anything else you would change?

Do you know how many fps i would get on high settings on farcry 3 or battlefield 3 ?

Thanks, squizzer
