Hi Guys I was just wondering, Is it illegal to build custom built pc's and sell them on, even though you havent got a qualification from a college or something?

More about selling custom built
  1. Nope, though there really isnt much of a market for it.
If you want to go this route, build to order rigs. Building a rig and then trying to sell it isn't going to work. Your main advantage over Dell/HP/ASUS/Alienware is that you can make custom rigs for people, not just certain configurations.
  2. you can sell them on ebay but then custom built rigs arent really going to do you good. id keep it small like to your friends or neighborhood and then build your way up
  3. oh right okay then, thankyou both for your replies. Il have to think about it before I start any work :)
  4. One time I took a look at what it would take to open my own shop and I found that I would need to sell something like 3,000 systems a month to turn a profit and stay competitive with other boutique vendors. :ouch:
  5. yeah thats not going to happen. even ncix doesnt sell that many and they've been building rigs since they started

Yeah I think the trick to staying competitive in that market is that you need to find a niche and then cater to people who most appeal to that niche.
