The Intel Core i7 3970 processor: intel - CP-I2S3970X and BX80619I73970X. I've seen this model number (intel - CP-I2S3970X) on online stores website, and don't know what's the difference.

Which version has the fan + heatsink included?

And what's the difference between 3970K and 3970X? what is the meaning of the letter at the end.

Thanks

Different product codes? Probably for the different regions? I'm not sure.

They both come with a fan and heatsink. You'll want to buy an aftermarket one if you want to OC or if the stock one is too loud.

The 3970K doesn't exist. That's the difference. As for the letters: K = unlocked, X = eXtreme.

There isn't a 3970k (as was pointed out), there is a 3970x, however, and truth be told...you would be better off going with a 3930k.

The 3930k is the same number of cores, it's unlocked so it can be overclocked, and the performance gap is negligible between the 2, but the price difference is enormous. So, put some money in your pocket and use it to CF/SLI 2 GPUs instead of spending it on a CPU that's really arbitrarily overpriced...
