I am noticing that with the new feature of veteran forum members selecting best answers has been put in use. People do not even wait a day for OP to respond to posts and select answers even if they do not participate in the thread. Example http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1670830/processo...
Now the questions, have we fixed the issues with the permission, that is participation and number of BA required to have the permission?
When other than OP selects best answer is he not ripping off the OP the credit (towards badges) he would get for selecting best answer?

There are badges for selecting best answers? For the most part, I do agree with you. It seems odd that someone else other than OP would mark a thread as solved.

I have sent a PM to Joe concerning this as there was a case a few days ago where a user with only 2 best answers seemed to be saying they had changed a load of answers around.

I personally feel very strongly that it should be very very hard to earn this privilege. We were meant to go to 20 best answers up from the default 5 that the forum was set up with.
This is still way way too low in my opinion, 2 years membership and over 100 best answers would be where I would be looking.
We are basically talking about something that only moderation used to be able to do.
I have also suggested that there be a block on any one other than Moderation or the OP selecting best answer for a set period say 14 days.

I agree and really the definition of veteran user should be time based on top of the BA.
