Z77 Needed to OC GPU or only to OC CPU?

I'm building a medium end system with an i3-3220 and a GTX 660. I am currently selecting a motherboard. However, I'm not sure if I need to order a Z77 chipset motherboard to overclock my GTX 660. I know I won't be able to overclock my i3, but I need to make up for my CPU's weakness with a good GPU. Anyone know the answer? Thanks.

I may get one just in case I upgrade to an i5 or even an i7 later this year.
