Single Card for 3 monitor Setup

I am looking to run 3 x 24in. monitors using a single graphics card. I don't want to spend more than $500 on it though.
I was looking at the 4 GB 670 below, do you think that it could run it?

Would I be better off running a Radeon 7970?

Yes the 670 is more than capable of handling 3 monitors.

I personally would opt for the 7970, mainly because it seems weird to pay a premium for 256 bit memory throughput. I like the 384 bit of the 7970 better.

Either one should do the trick for you though.

Thanks, would I be able to run games such as battlefield 3? if so, what kind of settings would I be playing on?

I just started running 2x 660GTXs in SLI for my Nvidia Surround set up and it runs fantastic, I am very impressed. For around 360 bucks you can get two of these are newegg.com. Be sure you get a SLI bridge too though. And this is coming from a person who only a couple weeks ago would never recommend any kind of multi gpu set up (several past experiences).

On either card you should be able to play on High settings at around 40-60 FPS, just watch the AA levels. Eyefinity/Surround adds a lot more stress on the card, so you won't get quite as high a quality at the higher resolution.

Also have you OCed the i5?

He wants the 4GB since the extra 2 GB helps with large resolutions and multi-monitor setups, while if he had 2x 660GTX, they still will only be using the 2GB they had, since it doesn't add.

True and it will make a difference, although it maybe slight with only one card running. I am not running the latest games at the highest settings, but most of them look great. Unless you go with a three card setup, you will most likely be adjusting the sliders in games to get the best fps anyway. Now if you could go with 2x 670GTX 4GBs, that would be an ideal setup, but its also considerably more expensive than mine.

Though I personally prefer Nvidia, I have to say if you got $500 to spend, go for the Radeon HD 7970 Ghz edition. The GTX 680 cost a little bit more but has 1 more GB.
