Start menu / task bar disappears?

I have google chrome and I have pressed something whilst on it which has made my start menu and start bar disappear.if i press the start icon on my key pad it comes up but then when i click off it it just vanishes again which is very annoying ... can anyone help?

Same exact problem here but I found this in another forum and it worked! here hope this helps!

I fixed this problem by killing "explorer" in the task manager processes. Then selecting File> New Task (also in task manager) and typing in "explorer" to restart.
