Seems as though Nevada, ( along with New Jersey and Delaware)is decriminalizing and licensing online poker rooms. This is a push in the online gambling movement many Americans have wanted for a long time. Other States that are looking at decriminalization are California, Massachusetts, Ohio, and I think New York. Washington State has been the toughest on online gambling making it a felony to play, host, or operate online gambling, similar to professional gambling. However, a state Rep wants to lessen the severity of punishment from a felony ( 5 years in state pen plush 10,000 buckaroos) to a 50 dollar ticket. Washington State is the only state know as of now that is pursuing a lax enforcement on online gambling, regulated by the WSGC.

I wonder, how much a license in Nevada is and if they accept out of state guys to open a room?

As long as they tax it appropriately im down. You know there will be a certain amount of the population that wont stop playing, kinda like how some people are more susceptible to having a drinking problem.

And this is completely about getting money. Ohio opened up for casinos because of the amount of money it would generate.

I'll open my own casino. I promise that for every $1 you spend, you'll win $0.75. And every so often a true winner will win 10x their bet.

Yes and no. My state allows 'public card rooms'. Basically glorified mom and pop casinos without the slots and roulette tables. Just basic blackjack, poker, pai gow, shootout, spanish 21, ect...

The natives have a compact with the state and the state agrees to let them keep their money as long as they are within commission regulations. Truly, they have a monopoly on gambling, save it for the state and its lottery. No private enterprise is to operate just a casino. Must be approved by the gambling commission.

Do it. You already have a higher house edge than all the casinos I know of! 25% house edge is astronomical! However, compare that to slots, slots are horrible...60-85% house advantage. Rather play 21 with basic strategy.

Not in Biloxi. But they are technically "barges" so they really are on the water not in Mississippi. It takes something like Katrina to move them though.

There are also casinos in New Orleans but I don't know who owns them. The big one is Harrah's though.

I don't see why gambling is not legal everywhere. Hell we have a lottery here in Georgia and you can buy scratch off tickets or play Keno all day long. There is also video poker in every convenience store in the state and although cash payoffs are a legal no no they happen in 99.9% of the stores. The lottery has brought in billions for our schools. Not that it has helped much!

I try and make the trek to Biloxi once a year or so. Came out ahead almost a grand last year. Course I lost my ass the 10 times before that lol. I'm a big spender. I like the nickel and quarter machines!

Anyway the people who are going to gamble are going to find a way. Might as well add some cash to the local economy by making it legal.

In Washington state, public card rooms are hurting major big time. Reason? Tribal Gaming. Public card rooms are that...card rooms. Just basic blackjack and poker. Now Indian Casinos...they have slots, tables, keno, bingo, raffles, lottery; and they get to keep ALL the money!

My local card room went bust due to loss of income. Sad reality. Hey, at least we have poker daily!
