My friend is building my PC, and the motherboard he's working with apparently needs 2 IDE to sata adapters to connect the CdRom. Would it work if I just purchased an external one? Also, and links or advice on the adapters needed? I don't know any information on the motherboard or CDROM, unfortunately.

That must be a left over cd rom drive it looks like, new egg has a sale right now i think with dvd-rw drives on sale for 14.99. Anyway depending how old the mobo is that's in it, it will work on MOST newer ones where the mobo supports usb boot. you would have to change it to usb boot in your bios. As for adapters from ide-sata they are a dime a dozen, id recommend picking up a extra one if you do purchase them because some have a tendency to go bad.
