Your CPU is obsolete. It will just bottleneck any higher mid-range to high-end GPU. Don't go any higher than a 7680 or GTX660.

BTW: it's impossible to install any GPU with that performance on a 300W PSU. I recommend at least 400W.

i've just same cpu like yours and 4gb ddr2 ram and i'm currently using sapphire radeon hd 7750 .its just running awesome .this cpu is fine it just gives a little bottleneck in cpu bounded games like witcher 2 crysis 3 and stuffs like that .but believe me this gpu is more than enough for 720p (1280*720) gaming on high settings i've played all games with amazing fps .and this card also uses less but i can't tell you that this card will run on a 300 watts power supply cause i haven't tested this yet .but if you have dare to take risk then you can ,don't take tension if power supply gets damaged it won't hurt any internal components .but i'll recommend you to buy a crosair cxv12 430 watts power supply .its isn't also that much costly and can easily handle up to radeon hd 7850.

by buying a 7750 you can easily play all modern and upcoming games on 720p for 2years easily .

hope i helped

may be it will be fine because i currently checked the whole system usage with this card :-

at idle the whole system usages were 162watts

under full graphic card usage it went around 195 watts

it means that the graphic card usage under full load will not be more than 50-55 watts at any cost .

so the conclusion is that you can try this card on your psu .and if worked fine in the games than you should be fine or if your bad luck arises and the psu gets (i hope it doesn't) damaged then buy a new psu ok.and be assured about this gpu .its a beast believe me .you will be able to play all games on high setting maybe some games on ultra .

hope i helped.good luck buddy .may your psu survives . =)

tnx, but i got a new idea, why not just build a budget system with the basic components of my dream gaming machine :D
then just upgrade bit by bit :)

no i don't think that psu can handle a gtx 650 .gtx 650 also needs 6pin power connector and it doesn't matter if nvidia recommends a 300 watts power supply a gtx 650 needs atleast a 350 watts power supply to perform good .the gtx 650 just performs a little more than 7750 and only in some cases .a 7750 is decent if he isn't upgrading the psu or if he's upgrading the psu them the zotac gtx 650 is a good choice .power consumption of 7750 is less than that of gtx 650

radeon hd 7750 can play old games on 1080p on low sets .but let me tell you that the 7750 is not a good graphic card for 1080p in future .and i think you are buying a future proof rig that can let you to play games without compromising of settings for atleast 2 future years .so i recommend you to buy a radeon hd 7870 (atleast) for gaming at that resolution .

it's not for the future, it's for now, for this 3-4 year old pc, i'll make a i5 3570, gtx 660 ti, 8 gb ram monster one day :D
