I'm in the process of building a mid range gaming PC and I have run into a bit of a dilemma. I have already purchased the MB, PSU, and case. But I need to wait till next month before I can purchased the CPU/RAM (and will delay the GPU till the month after), and I'm having a problem deciding what quad Core i5 to get.

Purchased components:

On newegg (where I'm buying all my parts) there are 9 quad Core i5 choices with onboard graphics (a must have since I wont have a GPU card till July), and they all seem so similar to me that I can't really compare them past simple clock speed and the onboard GPU. I need advice on what would be my best bang for my buck between them and if paying $20-50 more for 3-4 more GHz is really worth it or not in terms of performance. I'm willing to pay the extra coin, but not if I wont see any real world difference.

I want this machine to be able to provide me with at-least 2-3 years of solid gaming performance (keeping in mind I'll be able to upgrade the GPU as needed/desired) without having too much trouble.

Also, the onboard GPU means nothing to me past the fact that it will allow me to actually use the computer next month (ie. I know all the choices suck for gaming lol).

intel i5-3570k is the way to go.
all of the other i5 processors don't have the "k" at the end of them, meaning that they don't have an unlocked mutliplier for overclocking.
in addition, the 3570k is better than the 2500k in terms of integrated graphics--the ivy bridge models have better graphics than the older sandy bridge models.
the i5 3570k is basically the standard for all budget gaming computers now.
gl hf! :D

The 3570k was one of the few on my short list (not to mention going Ivy over sandy), but I just wasn't sure if the added price was worth it or not for what you get. But, considering the actual price difference between the "low" end and "high" end in the series isn't all that much, I guess I'll go with the 3570k... besides, every GHz add's +1 to the brag factor =P

Thanks for your input, it's much appreciated and it helped my indecisive self make a choice =)
