Hello,

I am working on a Dell "Inspiron One", all in one computers.

The end user contacted me to help them and I thought I would give it a try, since I have not worked on the hardware aspect of this type of device.

Basically the computer was not finding the hard drive. I retrieved the computer, turned it on and was able to log into windows to recover the files.

I left the computer running to get all of the files and when I came back i had the message similar to "No bootable device found".

I turned of the computer and left it go for a day then this morning I was able to log into windows with no issues and re-started the file move.

Has anyone ran into this type of issue, my first instinct is that the hard drive is getting ready to crash. Any suggestions?

I did find a few links to other people having the same issue, but I dont see any real resolution.

Usually sign of Registry errors. Download CCLEANER and run the registry fix tool. Next step in evaluating the life of the drive is to look at the connections going to the hard drive. I simple wire being mangled or even dust in between the connections could cause this. If none of these work, the hard drive is most likely corrupted.

The issue was that the SATA cable that came with the computer had an issue. Once I changed out the SATA cable it worked without a problem. It is known issue with the Dell Inspiron One's.
