2002 Grand am GT Tranny Slipping

My tanny has been slipping pretty bad. I was told to change the fluid and filter and everything. I did and its gotten better but still slips!! Do I need to have my tranny rebuild??? What else could it be?

How do you know its slipping? Prior to recently, when was the last time the vehicle had a transmission service? Did you check the fluid level with the transmission hot? A low or overfilled transmission will cause all kinds of issues. Does it go into drive and reverse with out a hesitation? Is the transmission leaking fluid from anywhere?

There is a possibility that the new fluid you added, freed up debris in your transmission and now clogged your filter as well.
