To overclock or not to overclock?

Once i have got the parts and completed my build I was planning on the following overclocks,

CPU: AMD 8350 4Ghz overclock to 4.5Ghz

GPU: ATI 7870 XT overclocked to ??? (max stable overclock, any experience with OC'ing this card would be useful)

My onley concerns being this is both my first build and OC, are these overclocks safe and worth voiding the warranty?

My build: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/cavemanpc/saved

The CPU overclocking Guide im currently looking at using: http://www.overclock.net/t/1348623/amd-bulldozer-and-piledriver-overclocking-guide-asus-motherboard

GPU guide: I don't have one in particular but looking at MSI afterburner guides, the GPU overclock looks much easier and safer to do.

any help is very much appreciated.

mainly as a learning curve, so if I need to in the future I can do it again, if Im building a pc from scratch for the first time and possibly OC'ing the GPU I might as well do the CPU too, other reason is CPU bound games, even with it being a new CPU out a few extra fps and performance doesn't hurt anyone.

well the setup should be enough for everything i do, its the cpu overclock that scares me, the cpu i agree doesn't actually need doing , the GPU tho iv heard if I overclock that safely as high as i can 1100 or something that it will be equivalent to a stock 7950 card, so would you recommend just overclocking the GPU and leaving everything. Else alone?

or just. Be safe. And leave it all out the box?

thanks for advice ao far :)
