I already have a gtx 470 and i recently installed a gt 610 along with it for a second display, although i can play most games and do everything properly, i can't play resident evil 6 (steam version) or league of legends and at the moment they are the only thing's i am playing, in case it matters i will write my full pc specs:
gtx 470
gt 610
amd fx 6100
asus m5a97 le r2.0 (no bios update)
corsair vengeance 8gb (single card)

any idea's or fixes will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

edit: ok resident evil 6 has decided to start working again but no matter how many times i try league of legends it won't work, the updater starts does any updates necessary and then when i press play, the updater closes (as it should) but then nothing comes in it's place.

There 2 different cards so you can only use one to connect your screen to.
I paired my GTX 660 with a GT630 but only for PhysX application.
This is the only purpose you can have for using 2 cards none-SLI configuration.

Connect the screen(s) to the correct and best GPU.
Dedicate the second card for PhysX in the NVidia Control Panel.

thanks but i can run each monitor off of different cards and it works flawlessly for most things (league of legends not being one of them) and i do use my gt610 for physx but there are not enough games that use it, to use it solely for that purpose so it would be a waste of money for me to do that, i also don't drop performance the way i am now with a card for a monitor.

Why can't you run both monitors off of the GTX 470 and dedicate the other card for Physx? You would be accomplishing the same thing and getting way less headaches.

I don't think by running the two cards you have now you are increasing performance. They are not, and can not, run in SLi.

well i'm not running them in sli, that would be impossible but if i was to run both of the monitors off of the 470 then it would have to render more pixels and i would not be able to run at the settings i would like and still be able to run video's on the other like i am completely smoothly, my original question is how can i get league of legends working again?

.

I'm going to bow out of this conversation as I don't think a secondary graphics card is taking a big enough load off the 470 to be of any value, especially not a GT 610. My suggestion would be to run both off the 470 and benchmark your performance hit and see if it worth the headache (probably not).

Also, I don't play League of Legends so I couldn't help you there. You could try enabling User Account Control and seeing if the updates require Administrative privileges because I have had a game that required UAC to be on for it to update (NBA2K13) or else it would bounce back to desktop.

forget the second graphics card, i mentioned that because that is when the problem occurred and i never said i was going to get an increase but if i was to run that test i may as well make it realistic and run some hd video's whilst playing the latest games maxed out and see how it performs but what do you mean by user account control?

It is present in Windows Vista forward. It is the prompts you receive when you try to make changes to the system. Some people turn it off because it can get quite annoying.

Also, that is what I was saying. Run both setups (if you can) with the exact same specifications (videos running, same settings in-game) to see if it is worth the headache.

Running 2 different GPU's to get a better performance is some what odd.
But i would never run games over 2 screen, i got a 24inch and a 19inch won't work.
Use 1 screen if you do not want to use SLI setup.

Make sure the LoL exe file is not restricted some how, it happen some times.

i know it sounds odd but i don't play games on both at the same time, i run separate tasks on either card/monitor, i usually watch tv or films on my gt610 so yeah and i do not have any restrictions on the game, i've also been playing it for ages on this build until i installed the gt610 and it's as if the game does not know what card to run on so decides just not to run and turns itself off (though i'm not saying that's the problem) but yeah there are no restrictions

I know that with the GT 630 as dedicated physx card it just switches of if there no PhysX application running.
My 24inch iiYama ProLite LED is basically my work space and my 19 inch dell is like itunes/browser/system readings screen.
NVidia Control Panel there some settings that could cause conflicts, 3D Settings, make sure the settings are right.
CUDA - GPU's: All
Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration: Multiple display performance mode
Make sure you also check the program settings it might be that for LoL these settings are wrong.

ok i checked and all of those settings are as you said and just to clarify, i'm trying to play the game and any other game solely on my 470 (unfortunately no luck with what you said) oh yeah and another thing which is a league of legends specific problems is that settings can only be changed in-game which of course i can't get into the game :(

Do you have a folder for LoL in my Document where it saves user files or something?
There might be a txt file or similar with your in game graphics settings you could change that.

there is, i've just spent some time messing with the properties and doing the things you've said but still nothing :(  i checked the log and it mentioned some error to do with decrypting, any ideas what they mean exactly?

Please copy and paste the error, it could be allot of things.

See if there is a repair tool in the main LoL directory, if yes use that.
If not install LoL for a second time in a other directory, Program Files\LoL2\ something like that.
See if that runs without problems.

um, when i installed it got about two thirds done and says "CRC error: The file J:\games\League of Legends\RADS\projects\lol_game_client\filearchives\0.0.0.43\Archive_124005072.r.af.dat doesn't match the file in the setup's .cab file. and gives me the option to either abort, retry or ignore below, i get the feeling if i press retry without changing any of the circumstances then it will say the same thing and if i ignore than i probably won't be able to play the game

Seems to be file corruption, is this a client that downloads the game or a full download(large file)?

i used the download client off of their website (check it out, just type league of legends into google) and this is what came up when i tried to install what i downloaded with what i am assuming is a client
May 16, 2013 2:27:26 PM

Yes i looked at there website some time ago and i can only get to the download part if make an account.
In your case there seems to be a file corruption this can be due to a faulty download.
That can be fixed by downloading a full download(couple GB probably) if possible from the website and not use the client.
Other then a damaged cluster on your HD(why i asked you to install in a second directory so you skip the clusters you normally would use)only multiple faulty clusters can now be the cause in that instance.
You can see with a Disk Defrag program if that is true.
Corrupt file would be an issue for the LoL help desk if no full download is available.

It is not your GPU, we deducted that possibility, only left now is file corruption due to faulty HD cluster(s) or the client downloads a corrupt/damaged file.

okay i'll look for a full download and post if it works, but what's a hard drive cluster? (also does it matter that the game is on a hdd but my os is on an ssd because it's been like that for a long time but as i'm intermediate i'm not sure if that cold coincide with something else because i'm trying to guess what a hd cluster is but have absolutely no clue)

your HD is made of clusters, where you data is stored, just like those old vinyl record but much much smaller.
This case it is being read by a laser not a diamond tipped needle, but it can happen due to wear and tear, movement(dropping/bumping your PC)

You do not have clusters on a SSD, no moving parts in a SSD makes it more stable and durable.
I got a similar setup a OZC Agility 3 256mb SSD C drive and a 1TB WB D drive.

If you got space install LoL on the SSD, then you can rule out a faulty HD cluster.
Contact LoL help desk and ask how you can get to correct file(s).

The games working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i installed it on the ssd (it's a 250gb samsung 840) and found a way to repair the game (it's was difficult to find but i kinda stumbled across it) and the game now works, Paul Raver you have helped me alot and i don't know if there is any reward system on here, if there is please tell me, thanks so much!
