Can you change a CPU of a regular laptop?

Hi my cousin asked me if he could upgrade the CPU of his laptop top an i3 or i5?? or viceversa to an AMD same as i3 or i5.

The included CPU, the Pentium B980 uses Socket G2 aka rPGA988B which can be replaced with some Core i7-?m CPU's - the question is which CPU's HP's BIOS will support - for that info I would suggest contacting HP.
AMD CPU is out of the question without a motherboard swap
