CM Hyper 212 Plus help?

Hi everyone. Please bare with me this is my first build.

I have the Hyper 212 plus and a Gigabyte-FXA-UD3 AM3+ Mobo. These parts are in a Corsair 300r case.
When I tried mounting it horizontally, I couldn't get the screws in properly. They would only screw in when the fan is facing vertically. This is frustrating because I have read that this is not a good idea! Is it going to effect the CPU temps by a lot or will it be fine? Is there a way where I can position it correctly so it could be facing horizontally? Please Help!

The case has a rear and front fan also.

Hello, I am a bit confused on what you mean it would only screw in when the fan is vertical. Do you mean on the actual mobo, its facing the wrong direction (Spun) or in the case itself?

Vertically is fine. I don't know a trick to screw it in properly in one direction and not the other. Did you try screwing each screw incrementally? A few twists, then opposite corner, a few twist, next diagonal.

Yes, I tried that. Still wouldn't screw in properly.

The actual mobo itself.

Anything blocking it from being screwed in properly?

Based on the pictures of the heatsink you should be able to mount the fan on either side if you need to, and vertical should be fine

By either side do you mean up or down or horizontal and vertical?

I should have been more clear lol. I mean up and down, you can also mount a second fan onto the other side if you wanted to.

Yeah it seems to be alright based off what I have seen. On my build I did a few weeks ago the cam lever to lock down my heatsink was so tight I thought i had cracked the processor. Some parts can seem a bit iffy but actually be designed that way.
